As a kid if I complained about being bored my mom told me, “Only boring people get bored”. According to Columbia University: People who are bored easily are susceptible to depression, anxiety, anger, academic failure, poor work performance, loneliness, and isolation. Boredom is a top predictor of addiction relapse. Work at staying ahead of boredom.
- Volunteer – Helping someone who has less than you and who really needs your help may encourage you to reassess why we were bored in the first place.
- Schedule Visits with friends-and- family-members-you-haven't-connected with in a while.
- Remember that conquering boredom improves your mental health.
Make a plan to help you beat boredom. Schedule game nights with friends and family Learn-and-grow by visiting a museum or art gallery. Take class at your local Y or art center. Clean and organize spaces in your house. For strong mental health make sure you stay ahead of boredom.
